Abstract

AbstractThe proposed aim of Electrified Skateboard is to scale down the conversion of existing vehicles running on the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) to Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) using Retrofitting Techniques. This approach is specifically aimed at the conversion of vehicles on a small scale. It is an interdisciplinary research model that is designed to keep in view of upcoming E-Mobility and Renewable Energy markets. Governments and Companies around the world are investing in Electric Mobility and Renewable Sources of Energy to energize Vehicles as well as Power Generation. Electrified Skateboard involves an ordinary Skateboard, retrofitted with a Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) Motor. It is accompanied by Lithium Polymer (Li-Po) Batteries, owing to its lightweight and size flexibility. The motor is powered by 24V Li-Po Battery and is controlled using an Electronic Speed Controller (ESC). ESC is programmed using Arduino Uno. The experience obtained in the conversion of the skateboard can successfully be implemented in different vehicles ranging from 2 Wheelers to Trucks. Conversion to clean energy will contribute to improved Air Quality Index (AQI), eliminating the influx of poisonous particles emitted by ICE Vehicles. Improved battery life and capacity will further increase the scope of Electric Vehicles in the coming future, manufacturing the components used in Electric Vehicles could give a boost to the manufacturing industry of Developing Nations. This working model replicates the retrofitting of existing vehicles, taking skateboard as an experimental model, and fitting motor, batteries and control units cleverly using minimum space. Keywords: Electric vehicles, motor, battery, Li-Po, electric mobilityCite this ArticleGaurav Pratap Singh, Lakshay Bhatia, Bharat Singh, Yash Lehri, Yogesh Sehgal.
