A Review On A Compact Dual Polarized Antenna Array

Abstract

A compact dual-polarized antenna array for low-cost millimeter-wave (mm Wave) applications is proposed in this article. Utilizing a patch antenna with two orthogonal feeds positioned horizontally and vertically, a dual linear polarization antenna can be created. Two ports—a vertical port and a horizontal port—make up the suggested design. The antenna produces horizontal polarization by stimulating the horizontal port. The antenna produces vertical polarization by stimulating vertical port.  With the higher order modes and the 26 GHz frequency band in consideration, a compact dual-polarized 1x4-element micro strip antenna array has been created to support dual-polarization applications without taking up more space. The micro strip feed line has been merged with two pairs of micro strip stubs with electrical lengths of g1/4 (the wavelength of the first harmonic signal) and g2/8 (the wavelength of the second harmonic signal), respectively. For the purpose of mutual coupling reduction, more air gaps between antenna parts are constructed. Dual linear polarization is used to simultaneously provide low cross polarization patterns and good port isolation. Gain (dB) at the thrilled horizontal port is 12.7 (dB I and 13.1 at the excited vertical port (db i). The suggested antenna array would make a good option for 5G wireless applications using millimeter waves.
