Abstract

Smart agriculture, driven by the Internet of Things (IoT), represents a paradigm shift in modern farming practices. Precision, resource optimization, and environmental sustainability are central objectives in agricultural research and development. This research paper delves into the development and implementation of a groundbreaking project, titled Smart Irrigation Using IoT, which encompasses soil moisture sensing, automatic irrigation control, and the integration of fertilizer and pesticide application via an Arduino Uno microcontroller. The core objective of this system is to advance precision agriculture by maintaining optimal soil moisture levels, enabling precise irrigation management, and bolstering crop health through tailored fertilization and pesticide application. Agriculture faces the constant challenge of managing limited resources, including water, fertilizers, and pesticides, while striving to enhance crop yield and quality. Smart irrigation systems are engineered to address these challenges by making data-driven decisions and automating resource allocation. The proposed system is designed to not only monitor and control soil moisture levels but also enable the dynamic adjustment of irrigation schedules. Furthermore, the system integrates the capability to dispense fertilizers and pesticides with precision, offering a holistic approach to crop management. The paper extensively discusses the hardware components essential for the system, including the Arduino Uno microcontroller, soil moisture sensors, water pumps, and dispensers for fertilizers and pesticides.
