PROJECT PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION USING ROBOTICS AND AUGMENTED REALITY

Abstract

The construction industry is based on human resources, specifically for on-site construction processes. The conventional construction practices require an absolute amount of workforce and skilled labour to achieve the aimed efficiency in terms of construction duration and cost, and building quality. Besides, lack of workforce and sufficiently skilled labour can affect the overall duration, cost, and quality targets. Therefore, based on these issues, advanced robotic technologies have been developed to be involved in on-site construction activities that aredangerous for human health or need to be supported. And present-day construction projects are characterized by short-term partnerships between multidisciplinary teams like AR and VR. The aim of the research is to analyse and visualize buildings using advanced technologies in the construction industry, along with project management strategies and their impact on cost andresources used. The objective of my research has been to investigate how AR and on-site robotic technologies can be used during the planning, design and realization phase of a construction project. This aims at analysing and visualizing buildings using smart technologies in all phases of construction and their impact on cost and efficiency of resources used.
