The choice of filler materials along with the derived composition of constituents plays an important role in determining the performance effectiveness of polymeric composite material. This work is an annexure of vivid experimental study succeeding with the evaluation of fatigue characteristics together with the determination of reinforcement and modulus-of-elasticity of cement reinforced polymeric composite material. Inexpensive fly-ash based Portland pozzolana cement is used as filler material with the polypropylene as matrix material and over a few steps, the composite is fabricated following the injection molding process. Numbers of experiments have been conducted under the cyclic loading and in the follow-up, short-term fatigue characteristics of the material have been assessed and the results are adequately discussed. Theoretical models viz., Halpin Tsai and rule-of-mixing series methods have been retrofitted that establish relationship with the reinforcement and elastic-modulus of the material. Theoretical results obtained for few compositions of cement fillers are aptly validated with the experimental results.Cite this ArticleDibakar Bandopadhya.
