Automation is a key parameter of interest in all production processes. Raising the productivity is the main goal of every industry. The best way to improve production rates (productivity) is the use of special purpose machines which are widely used for special kinds of operations. In the present paper, authors have analyzed each and every process of power switch assembly manufacturing. By adding or modifying an automatic process, assembly cost can be reduced, which affects the overall cost of the product. So, an attempt is made to design to automate the cutting process. This paper concerns the proposed design, modeling and selection of the components using mechatronics approach. The design can meet the variation in cutting the length as well as the thickness of the rod. This is mandatory for various sizes of power switches.
