Abstract

AbstractIndustrial workers all around the world, mainly oil and gas and construction workers often work at dangerous worksites, where they are constantly exposed to hazardous components. This leads to many catastrophic events and disasters. Safety is an important concept which needs to be followed in all industries in order to avoid accidents. But, very few studies related to the safety climate in oil and gas industries have been conducted in the Indian context. A questionnaire was designed and distributed to 240 employees where 216 responses were usable. The collected data was subjected to exploratory factor analysis which yielded two significant factors i.e. safety beliefs and behaviors, safety administration and systematic practices. To find out the connection between the safety climate and safety components, partial least squares regression was used. Keywords: Safety climate, safety culture, offshore industry, accidental history Cite this ArticleD.
