Abstract

The mechanical characteristics of jute/E-glassfibre polyester composites were examined (AC) after theincorporation of activated carbon particles. The polyestermatrix was loaded with five different particle loading ratios(0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 percent). To increase the adhesion of jutefibres to the polyester matrix, they were treated in a NaOHsolution. Hardness, tensile, and water absorption tests wereperformed on polyester, Activated Carbon- filled polyesterand jute/E-glass fibers polyester with and without ActivatedCarbon filter. The findings revealed that the hardness, tensilestrength, and strain-to-failure of the polyester and jute/E glasspolyester specimens all reduced as the Activated Carbonparticle loading was raised. However, increasing theActivated Carbon fillet loading to 3 wt.% reversed thesefindings. Improved tensile and flexural testing, whichsubsequently started to deteriorate.
