Abstract

In this research work, the detailed experimentation investigation was performed for EN19 steel using milling process on CNC VMC. The experimentation strategy has been planned using Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal array, consisting of three process parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut on material removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness (SR). Two different types of end mill cutters (solid carbide and titanium nitride coated carbide end mill) were used to find out the best performance. The level of significance of the machining parameters for their effect on the MRR and SR was determined by using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The comparative study was also performed to access the best tool for this experimental work. Finally, confirmation experiment was performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed optimal condition.
