Abstract

Jharkhand is derived from Indo-Aryan languages, comprising two words, “Jhar” meaning “Forest” and “khand” meaning “Land”, meaning FOREST LAND. Geographically, Jharkhand is India’s 15th-largest state, and population-wise, it is the 14th-largest. Despite Jharkhand accounting for India’s 40% mineral production, 39.1% of its population lives below the poverty line, and 19.6% of its children below the age of five are malnourished. It is plagued by a lot of environmental and socioeconomic problems. As the state relies heavily on natural resources, agriculture, and mining, it faces issues such as deforestation, environmental degradation, water scarcity, and socioeconomic inequality. This paper attempts to investigate how and where Artificial Intelligence can help address these issues. Some AI applications, such as precision farming, intelligent water management, predictive modelling for deforestation, and AI- powered monitoring systems to combat pollution and resource depletion, are explored as part of the solution to the highlighted problems. This research attempts to establish a comprehensive framework for integrating AI technology into the region's development strategy by examining local issues in light of international case studies.
