Abstract

Recently there has been a considerable rise in the use of online shopping. Since online shopping involves doing transactions online, it is essential to have required structures and mechanisms of security when dealing with the data involved in the process. Since the data is very vital for the companies involved in online shopping businesses, effective management of data is highly asked for to store, manage and retrieve information with ease and élan. Databases are used for the purpose. However, designing the database is very crucial as even the good application programs cannot overcome bad database designs. Moreover, a good database design ensures ease of access and retrieval of information besides improving performance. To this end, this paper aims to design the database for a software tool for effectively design of online shopping websites. The paper considers Fuzzy Quality Function Deployment (FQFD) based software for effectively design of online shopping websites. The paper discusses the QFD and fuzzy concepts in this regard. The paper then illustrates the detailed design of database through Value chain, tables, schemas and descriptions, flowcharts and E-R diagram.
