Abstract: The paper presents the effect of different dosages of saline water on the index and engineering properties of bentonite. The various tests conducted were consistency limits, free swell index, compaction and unconfined compressive strength. The saline water solution was prepared by varying the salt content from 5 to 40 gms per litre of distilled water.
