Optimum Mixture Proportioning of Sawdust Ash Blended Sand-Stone Dust Blocks Using Scheffe’s Regression TheoryBy Temple Nwofor, S. Sule, F. U. Atafo
Abstract: This study carried out an experimental investigation on the compressive strength of sawdust ash blended sand-stone dust block of size 450 x 225 x 150 mm using Scheffe’s (5, 2) regression theory. The compressive strength of sawdust ash blended sand-stone dust blocks obtained based on fifteen trial mix ratios were used to develop the mathematical model while the results of the compressive strength values obtained based on the additional fifteen …

Safety Analysis of A Three Span Reinforced Concrete BeamBy Sule S., Temple Nwofor, Matthew F.
Abstract: In this study, the safety analysis of a three- span reinforced concrete beam supporting a classroom block is carried out considering the failure of the beam in bending, shear and deflection in accordance with the provision of BS8110 (1987). The failure functions were developed based on bending, shear and deflection were solved to obtain the design points using a Matlab code. A sensitivity analysis was conducted on the design parameters …

Prediction of Mix Ratios for Grade 30 Superplasticized Concrete Using Osadebe’s Regression ModelBy S. Sule, Temple Nwofor, C. Onuekwusi
Abstract: This study developed a model for estimating the compressive strength of grade 30 super-plasticized concrete. The regression model was built using a total of 15 experimental mix ratios. The results of compressive strength at 28 days from the concrete cubes were used for model development. Two cubes (150 mm × 150 mm × 150 mm) were produced per mix ratio, totaling 30 cubes for the 15 trial mix ratios. Osadebe’s …

Applicability of a Balcony Function for Bridge Deck Analysis under HA and HB LoadingBy Temple Nwofor
Abstract: A bridge is one of the major infrastructures in the society used to connect roads separated by rivers or any other obstructions. This work is all about the applicability of a balcony function for bridge deck analysis under HA loading and HB loading. The HA loading comprises of uniformly distributed load and knife edge load while HB comprises of abnormal load which is as a result of abnormal vehicles. Different …

A RELIABILITY STUDY ON A SYMMETRIC TWO-SPAN I - STEEL BEAMBy Temple Nwofor
Abstract: In this paper, a reliability study is carried out on a symmetric two-span I-Section steel beam using the First Order Reliability approach. The ultimate limit state of bending moment, shear stress and local buckling of web were the design criteria considered in the reliability index estimation. A Matlab code was developed based on the performance functions developed for the various failure modes and a Matlab optimizer, fmincon, was invoked in …
