Biochar-Filled Soy Protein Composites: Evaluating Thermal and Mechanical Properties for Sustainable Polymer ApplicationsBy R. Sathyamurthy, Prabhat Ranjan Mishra, Prafull Hishikar, G. Devi, T. Magesh, Anu Swedha Ananthan, K. Manimekalai, M. Mathiyarasi, R. Sathyamurthy
Abstract: The growing demand for environmentally sustainable and biodegradable materials has intensified interest in alternative solutions for thermal insulation. This study explores the development of composite materials using mango seed shell biochar (MSSB) and soy protein isolate (SPI) as a biodegradable matrix-filler system. Mango seed shells, an abundant agro-industrial waste, were subjected to pyrolysis at 500°C for 2 hours to produce biochar. The resulting MSSB was incorporated into SPI with glycerol …

Enhancing Thermal and Mechanical Performance of Polymer-Based Phase Change Materials with Graphite Nanoplatelets: A High-Efficiency Approach for Energy Storage ApplicationsBy Indradeep Kumar, Sathiyamoorthy Margabandu, M. Chitra, L.Saravanakumar, T. Magesh, Dhiren Patel, S Richard, M Anusuya, Sapthagirivasan.V
Abstract: This study explores the performance enhancement and characterization of polymer-based phase change material (PCM) composites reinforced with graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) for thermal management applications. The integration of GNPs significantly improved thermal conductivity, which increased from 0.38 W/m·K in pure PCM to 2.60 W/m·K with 10 wt% GNPs, marking a 580% improvement. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) analysis revealed a reduction in latent heat capacity from 180 J/g to 150 J/g—approximately 16.7%—attributed …
