Spectrophotometric Method for the Estimation of Aciclovir in Bulk DrugBy S. Shanmugam, Valarmathi S., Ravichandran V., Satheesh Kumar S, Shanmugasundaram P
Abstract: Aciclovir gives antiviral activity; one, new, simple, accurate, rapid, economical and precise procedure for spectrophotometric estimation of aciclovir in bulk drug. Aciclovir was estimated at 254 nm in 0.1 M sodium hydroxide, at 254 nm in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid, and at 254 nm in 7.4 phosphate buffers. The linearity range was found to be 5–30 µg/ml. The molar absorptivity was found to be 9.376x10 in 0.1 M sodium hydroxide, …

Spectrophotometric Method for the Estimation of Levosulpiride in Bulk Drug and FormulationsBy S. Shanmugam, Babu R., Ravichandran V.
Abstract: Levosulpiride having D2-dopamine receptor antagonistic activity gives ant depressive and antiulcer effect. There are three new simple accurate, rapid, economical and precise procedures for spectrophotometric estimation of Levosulpiride in bulk and pharmaceutical formulation. Levosulpiride was estimated at 291.5 nm in 0.1 N NaOH, 290 nm in 0.1 N HCl and 292.5 nm in 6.8 phosphate buffer. Linearity range was found to be 10–50 µg/mL in all the three methods. The …

Ocular Inserts: An OverviewBy S. Shanmugam, T. Vetrichelvan, S. Valarmathi
Abstract: Ocular inserts are sterile preparations which are to be placed into cul-de-sac or conjuctival sac. The major aim of ocular insert is to maintain a therapeutic level at the site of action for prolonged period of time. The therapeutic efficacy of an ocular drug can be greatly improved by prolonging its contact with the corneal surface. Ocular insert gives several advantages like increased ocular residence time, drug release at a …
