Effect of Layering of Reinforcement on Bearing Capacity of Shallow Footing Resting on Sand

Abstract: The study was done to investigate the performance of reinforced soil foundation. The construction of reinforced soil foundation has a cost effective alternative to conventional methods. Performance characteristics were improved by using one or more layers of non-woven geotextile placed beneath the footing to create a composite material. The reinforcement in the soil interacts with the soil and is resisted by friction, adhesion or passive / bearing capacity. To study …

Effect of Reinforcement on Bearing Capacity of Sand

Abstract: The reinforced earth concept, which is now being evaluated with increased significant encompasses formation of a composite of a soil with tension resistance reinforcing elements such as metallic and nonmetallic strips, bars, rods fibers or nets in the soil. The objective of using the reinforcement is to supress the normal tensile strains in the soil mass through frictional interaction. Flexible nature of reinforced earth mass enables it to withstand large …

    Dynamic Behavior of Coal Ash

Abstract: Coal ash is deposited in large quantities in the ash pond. It is used as structural fill and for dyke construction. The behavior of ash under dynamic conditions is not well investigated. The present work attempts to quantify some of the parameters, which influences the dynamic stability especially liquefaction potential of coal ash. Several investigations conducted on coal ash suggest that ash fills have low SPT value. This supports the …
