Formulation and Evaluation of Transdermal Drug Delivery of PiroxicamBy Mudit Dixit, P. K. Kulkarni, R. Narayana Charyulu
Abstract: The aim of the present study was to formulate transdermal films loaded with Piroxicam (PX). Transdermal films were prepared by using sodium alginate (SA) and xanthan gum (XG) as biopolymers by varying the blend ratios viz., 10:0, 8:2, 6:4, 4:6 and 2:8 (w/w %) through solution casting method. The drug loaded membranes were evaluated for thickness, tensile behaviours, and content uniformity. In-vitro diffusion was determined by Franz diffusion cell. Piroxicam …

Development and Characterization of Mucoadhesive Microspheres Containing a Model Antidiabetic DrugBy Mudit Dixit, R. Narayana Charyulu, Sompalli Prashanthi, Nisha G. Shetty
Abstract: The present work was envisaged to reduce the dosing frequency and improve patient compliance by designing and evaluating sustained release mucoadhesive (SRM) microspheres of metformin hydrochloride (MH) for an effective control of diabetes type-2. Microspheres were prepared by emulsification solvent evaporation method using sodium alginate, carbopol 934P (CP), and sodium carboxy methyl cellulose (SCMC) as a mucoadhesive polymers. The microspheres exhibits good mucoadhesive properties and showed high drug entrapment efficiency. …

Preparation and Characterization of Solid Dispersion of TenoxicamBy Mudit Dixit, R. Narayana Charyulu, Amit Patil, C.S. Shastry
Abstract: The aim of the present study was to prepare solid dispersions of a poorly water-soluble drug Tenoxicam in Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), prepared by spray-drying techniques. The physicochemical properties of the solid dispersion and drug-polymer interactions were characterized by DSC, FT-IR, XRD and SEM. Tenoxicam was found amorphously dispersed in solid dispersion systems with the drug to polymer weight ratio of 1:3. Dissolution profile of the prepared solid dispersion was compared with …

Preparation and Characterization of Fenofibrate Freeze-Dried CrystalsBy Mudit Dixit, R. Narayana Charyulu, Amit Patil, Chakrakodi S. Shastry
Abstract: The present research work was aimed to prepare fenofibrate freeze-dried crystals using poloxamer by freeze-drying technique. Fenofibrate crystals containing poloxamer were prepared by freeze drying using acetone and water as solvent system. The prepared formulations containing drug and poloxamer were evaluated for solubility and in-vitro dissolution. The prepared formulations were characterized by DSC, FT-IR, XRD and SEM. Dissolution profile of the prepared freeze-dried crystals was compared with its physical mixture …

Monophase Solution for Enhancing Solubility and Dissolution of Ezetimibe by Spray Dried MicroparticleBy Mudit Dixit, Parthasarthi Keshavarao Kulkarni, R. Narayana Charyulu
Abstract: The aim of the present study was to improve the solubility and dissolution rate of Ezetimibe by preparing crystals by spray drying technique using Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and water as solvent system. Ezetimibe crystals were produced by spray drying using IPA as solvent to enhance solubility and dissolution rate. The prepared crystals were evaluated for solubility and in vitro dissolution. The prepared formulations were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), …
