Optimization of Green Sand Casting Process Using Genetic AlgorithmBy Priyank V Parekh, J. A. Vadher
Abstract: This research includes minimization of some of the sand casting defects like Blowholes, Cracks, Porosity using genetic algorithm. Data collection is carried out from medium scale sand casting industry. Some of critical parameters like moisture, permeability, LOI, compressive strength, volatile content, vent holes, pouring time, pouring temperature and mould hardness are identified in the process. L27 orthogonal array is selected. Genetic algorithm is used to optimized the process parameters. Process …

Minimizing the Sand Casting Defects Using Taguchi MethodBy Priyank V Parekh, J.A. Vadher
Abstract: The global market is becoming more and more quality conscious now a days. This Research work includes minimization of sand casting defects in C.I. based foundry. The survey was carried in small scale CI based foundry (Surat). Major defects were observed are misrun, coldshut, blowholes, and porosity. Taguchi method is used to optimize the control parameters like moisture, permeability, pouring time, pouring temperature. L18 orthogonal array is used in this …

Optimization of Green Sand Casting Process Parameters by Artificial Neural NetworkBy Priyank V Parekh, J. A. Vadher
Abstract: In this paper, artificial neural network (ANN) is used to train the network which can predict the casting defect. L27 orthogonal array is used as input matrix for training of neural network. NN tool is used to train the network for prediction of defects. Major defects observed on shop floor were; misrun, blowholes, inclusions and porosity. Moisture, permeability, LOI, compressive strength, volatile content, vent holes, pouring time, pouring temperature, mould …
