Variation in Extract Yield in Different Parts of Albizia lebbeckBy Priya S, Jenifer S.
Abstract: Phytochemical screening is an important step which leads to the isolation of new and novel compound. Solvent extract of the plant material with the help of different solvent such as n-hexane, chloroform, alcohol and aqueous revealed that in alcohol and aqueous solvent maximum extract yield obtained in all studied parts. Phytochemical screening analysis of the extract revealed presence of tannins, phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenes and steroids in most parts. In …

Antibacterial Activity and Preliminary Phytochemical Screening of the Extracts of the Bark of Moringa oleiferaBy JENIFER SOLOMON RAJAN, Priya S
Abstract: Ethyl acetate, acetone, methanol and aqueous extracts of the bark Moringa oleifera were screened against the enteric pathogens isolates namely, Esherichia coli, Shigella sonnei and Salmonella enteritis. All the extracts other than aqueous extract showed antimicrobial activity with the methanol extract having the percentage of activity. Preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of and tannins in the methanol extract. Keywords: Moringa oleifera, bark, antimicrobial activity, flavones, tannins
