Self-Nanoemulsifying Drug Delivery System for Atorvastatin Calcium: Design, Optimization and EvaluationBy Panner Selvam R, Parthasarathi K Kulkarni, Mudit Dixit
Abstract: Atorvastatin calcium (ATC) is the choice of drug in the treatment of moderate to severe hypercholesterolemia. In the current study, ATC self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems (SNEDDS) were prepared in an attempt to improve the bioavailability by enhancing its solubility. The solubility of ATC in various oils, surfactants, and co-surfactants were determined. Based on their solubility, Capmul MCM (oil), Tween 20 (surfactant), propylene glycol (Co-surfactant) was selected for preparation of SNEDDS. …

Solid Self Nanoemulsifying Tablets: Statistical Optimization by 23 Factorial DesignsBy Panner Selvam R, P. K. Kulkarni, Iswar Hazarika, Anusha Sudulaguntla, Vineeth Chandy
Abstract: The objective of the current research was to enhance the solubility of poorly water soluble drug i.e. atorvastatin calcium, by self nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (SES) and formulating it as tablets using 23 factorial designs. The prepared liquid SES were adsorbed onto aerosil which acts as carrier. The 23 factorial designs were employed to optimize the concentration of micro-crystalline cellulose, PVP and sodium starch glycollate. The observed values were in …
