Abstract: In fresh water crab, gills are crucial for respiration, excretion, acid-base balance, and osmotic and ionic regulation. Profenofos, a well-known organophosphate pesticide has been in agricultural use over the last two decades for controlling pests of paddy, cotton and tobacco.
