Synergistic Effects of Hybridized Nano-Silica and Hemp Fiber Reinforcement on Bio-Epoxy CompositesBy Priya R., M. Bala Theja, Hari Kumar Andem, Ankush B. Khansole, S. Mohamed Rabeek, Rekha Anantharaman, S.B.G. Tilak Babu
Abstract: Natural fiber-reinforced bio-epoxy composites have become promising sustainable alternatives to conventional synthetic-fiber petroleum-based materials, but are often limited by low fiber-matrix interfacial bonding, low thermal stability, and high moisture absorption which limit their application in structural applications. These issues are discussed in this work, by carrying out a systematic investigation of the synergistic effects of the hybridization of nano-silica particles with alkali-treated hemp fibers in a bio-epoxy matrix the composites …

pH-Responsive Smart Polymer Nanocomposites for Anti-Corrosive CoatingsBy S. Ajith Arul Daniel, M. Bala Theja, Hari Kumar Andem, Ankush B. Khansole, S. Mohamed Rabeek, Santosh Kumar Nathsharma
Abstract: Metallic corrosion under adverse marine and industrial conditions imposes gigantic financial burdens and risks worldwide. Conventional waterproofing waterborne epoxy has passive barrier protection, but is also inherently microporous, lacking intrinsic repair ability against mechanical damage and thus rapidly decays. This is a critical gap that this work tries to bridge by designing a new pH-responsive hybrid polymer nanocomposite by using polyethyleneimine-tannic acid-cerium functionalized boron nitrate nanosheets with chitosan-capped mesoporous silica …

Machine Learning Optimization for VARTM Carbon Polymer LaminatesBy M. Rajkumar, Mridula Mavuri, K. Sithananthan, M. Bala Theja, Ankush B. Khansole, Gokul Pran S.
Abstract: Vacuum-assisted resin transfer moulding (VARTM) is a key low-cost, out-of-autoclave process for manufacturing large-scale carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates crucial to aerospace wings, wind-turbine blades, marine hulls, and automotive structures. Unpredictable resin flow often leads to voids, dry spots, and race-tracking defects, resulting in 27.9% scrap rates and lengthy, costly trial-and-error design cycles. Although surrogate models provide rapid impregnation predictions for simple flat-plate geometries, vision-based monitoring is limited to idealized …
