Thermal Stability of Compatibilised Natural Rubber/ Chitosan BlendsBy Jobish Johns, Charoen Nakason
Abstract: The thermal degradation behavior of Natural Rubber /Chitosan (NR/CS) blends compatibilised with maleic anhydride (MA) was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The TGA shows that the MA modified blends are more stable than the pure blends. MA acts as a reactive compatibiliser in NR/CS blends. MA grafted NR chain is highly reactive towards the functional group on the chitosan moiety, and when pressing at elevated temperature interaction develops between the …

Fully Interpenetrating Polymer Network from Natural Rubber and Guar GumBy Jobish Johns, Abhiram J. S., Pernabas N., Inayath Pasha I., Saifulla Khan, Anand A.
Abstract: Fully interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) based on natural rubber (NR) and guar gum (GG) was prepared by using glutaraldehyde as a common crosslinking agent. As both the polymers are naturally occurring and the resulting IPN material can be termed as a green polymeric material. The solvent resistance properties of these samples were investigated by equilibrium swelling method using benzene as a solvent. Benzene was used as the penetrant for the …

Elastomeric Blends of Natural Rubber and the Resin Exuded from Ailanthus malabaricum TreeBy Jobish Johns, Praveena Kumar R. S, Avadhani D. N., Ekwipoo Kalkornsurapranee
Abstract: AbstractElastomeric blends of natural rubber and exuded resin of Ailanthus malabaricum tree have been prepared from solution casting technique. Benzene was used as the common solvent for both the constituent polymers. Compared to the elasticity of natural rubber, the resin exhibits excellent elasticity. The combination of both the elastomers with different composition showed a considerable enhancement in elasticity of rubber. Universal testing machine was employed to study the tensile properties …
