Abstract: Self-microemulsifying drug delivery systems (SMEDDS) have gained attention as an effective approach to enhance the bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. They are innovative lipid-based formulations designed to enhance the solubility, bioavailability, and therapeutic efficacy of poorly water-soluble drugs. The development of SMEDDS involves systematic selection of components based on solubility and emulsification efficiency, followed by optimization of ratios using pseudo-ternary phase diagrams.
