Abstract: Introduction and Background: Azukia genus plants rich in proteinaceous anti-nutrients like tannins (especially condensed tannins) has been shown to have anti-bacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and antineoplastic activity against lung and liver cancer cells. Five types of procyanidins (condensed tannins) have already been isolated from Azukia mungo and structurally elucidated.
