Metro Systems' Role in Reducing CO2 Emissions in Urban TransportBy Carlos Eduardo Sanches de Andrade
Abstract: To better understand the impact of metro systems on reducing CO2 emissions in urban transport, a detailed analysis is required. This analysis should evaluate both the direct and broader effects of metro networks on the overall urban transportation system. It is crucial to quantify the actual contribution of metro systems in cutting CO2 emissions by considering the entire transport network. The evaluation should include not only the emissions generated by …

Policies on Emissions of Greenhouse Gases and Other Atmospheric Pollutants by the Railway Transport SectorBy Alberto Maurício Souza Corrêa, Carlos Eduardo Sanches de Andrade, Cintia Campos
Abstract: This work seeks to identify, understand, and analyze laws and regulations from different European Union countries that focus on emissions of greenhouse gases and other atmospheric pollutants by the rail transport sector, both freight and passenger. The search to identify legislation was carried out through the use of artificial intelligence and, subsequently, an active search for documents relevant to the topic was carried out. During the research, data on the …

Applications of Carbon Dioxide Emissions Calculations in the Operation of Public Passenger Transport SystemsBy Carlos Eduardo Sanches de Andrade
Abstract: This paper aims to analyze emissions from public passenger transport systems, metros and buses, compared with private cars, establishing calculating these emissions. The calculations were applied in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The results obtained indicate that the electric trains of the system had an average emission of 4.5 g of carbon dioxide (CO2) per passenger-kilometer, a result 10 times lower than the emission of buses, which in …
