Criticality Verification for Open Pool storage of MTR Spent fuel Elements using MCNP5 CodeBy Amr Mohamed Abdelhady
Abstract: Abstract:This study aims to verifying the nuclear criticality criteria in spent fuel repository. The repository is an open pool type that is used temporary to store the spent fuel elements removed from the core of 22 MW power of open pool research reactor. The repository could receive up to 800 of spent fuel elements of material testing reactor (MTR) type. Arrangement configuration of spent fuel elements in the repository must …

Dose Rate Mapping Resulting from Water Unloading in the Tangential TubeBy Amr Mohamed Abdelhady
Abstract: Abstract The objective of this study aims to calculate the expected dose rate distribution in the neutron experimental area of research reactor due to unloading water from the tangential tube. The tangential tube is one of the irradiation neutron beams in open pool reactor which installed to conduit a neutron physics experiment. Unloading water from the tangential tube is a process aims to reaching neutrons emitted from the reactor core …

Criticality Risk Assessment during Transportation and Storage of MTR Spent Fuel ElementsBy Amr Mohamed Abdelhady
Abstract: Abstract This study aims to evaluate the criticality condition during transporting the spent fuel elements from the temporary storage to the permanent storage by using a Latin American cask. The cask was developed to transport the material testing reactor (MTR) fuel element type. MCNP5 code was used to calculate the criticality, expressed in terms of the neutron multiplication factor (k-effective), for normal and accidental situations using 21 fresh fuel elements. …
