A Dipole Circular Patch Antenna for Operation in the X-Band
Abstract: This microwave engineering research paper proposes, designs, calculates, and simulates a novel dipole circular patch antenna for theoretical wideband operations in the X-band (the 8 GHz to 12 GHz frequency range). This proposed microstrip patch antenna was realized using FR-4 as a dielectric (a thickness of 1.5 mm) with copper being used in both the ground plate and the two transmitting circular elements (the so-called patches with a thickness of …

Polarization Reconfigurable Antenna: Design and Analysis
Abstract: This paper presents an analysis and design of a polarization reconfigurable microstrip patch antenna fed with single and dual feeds operating at WLAN frequency. For a single feed structure a square patch is designed first and is perturbed for obtaining circular polarization. Using PIN diodes this design can be made to generate different polarizations. In case of a dual feed structure the radiating square patch has dual feeding provision and …

Study of Effect of Various Dielectrics on the Performance of Electromagnetic Bandgap Based Microstrip Patch Antenna Structure
Abstract: Here the effect of various dielectrics on the performance of microstrip patch antenna with underlying electromagnetic bandgap structure is investigated. This unique antenna structure suppresses the surface waves and reflects plane waves with no phase change and thus acts as a perfect magnetic conductor (PMC). Dielectric losses are reduced due to the presence of EBG structure and bandwidth enhancement is observed when compared to the non-EBG structure. The effect of …

Compact Circularly Polarized Patch Antenna with U-Slot and Defected Ground
Abstract: A compact single-feed circularly polarized (CP) patch antenna at L-band is designed. The antenna contains a U-slot and is designed with DGS technique to reduce the size of antenna. With the presence of the U-slot, the antenna fabricated on a high-dielectric-constant (10.2) substrate achieves a reasonable axial-ratio bandwidth. The operating frequency is 1.521 GHz. The measured gain is 2.5 dBi, and bandwidth is 86.8 MHz.

Performance Analysis of Proximity Coupled Microstrip Patch Antenna with DGS and EBG
Abstract: The objective of this paper is to analyze the effect of Defected Ground Structure (DGS) in a Proximity Coupled Microstrip Patch Antenna (PCMA) and the effectiveness of using this structure in a PCMA with an Electromagnetic Bandgap Structure (EBG). The EBG structure used is a metallo-dielectric structure having a printed metallization with connected via ground plane. This manoeuvering of EBG enabled PCMA with a dumbbell shaped DGS results in a …

Design Optimization of Microstrip Antenna with EBG and DGS Using the Genetic Algorithm to Reduce the Mutual Coupling
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to construct, create, and reproduction of different antenna structures using electromagnetic band gap (EBG) materials and defected ground structures (DGS). Microstrip antennas are processed in order to improve performance by changing the shape of the geometry of the antenna, in particular to reduce the mutual coupling between the elements. The propagation of electromagnetic waves in a specified frequency range have the unique ability to …

Design and Analysis of Dual Band Triangular Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna for GPS and WLAN Application
Abstract: AbstractIn this paper, design of a dual operated microstrip patch antenna is presents. The dual-operation frequencies are chosen for UMTS/GPS and WLAN bands. A microstrip square patch antenna is designed which is excited by a microstrip line feed from the bottom of the antenna. An epoxy glass FR4 material is used as a substrate in the designing of antenna. The antenna is first modified in inverted U-shaped design to operate …
