For the prediction of transmission of sound and vibration through complex structural systems, Statistical Energy Analysis method is widely used. These complex subsystems are generally divided in to simple subsystems. The prediction of transmission of sound and vibration through complex structures or systems depends on three parameters viz. damping loss factors, coupling loss factors and the, modal densities between subsystems. The damping loss factor relates to the power dissipated in a subsystem. . For many subsystems the overall response level is inversely proportional to the damping level. These day’s conventional materials are replaced by advanced materials like composite materials because of their better inherent properties. This paper describes the effect of various composite materials and their fibre orientations used for plate on damping loss factor. For experimental estimation of damping loss factor of composite plates Half Power Bandwidth Method has been used.
