Bovine Milk in Andean Peru: The Need of an Observational Study to Assess Regional Bovine Genetics
Abstract: Andean Peru comprises 63.9% of total Peruvian agro-producers who own 73.2% of the total Bovidae taxa in Peru. Moreover, milk production in Andean Peru has been noted to be linked to poverty and thus malnourishment. An observational study is urged to assess bovine genetics and direct programs of genetic improvement to increase both the income for the farmers and availability of the produce at lower prices for the general consumer. …

Development of an Endocrine Profiles Based Mathematical Model for the Estrous Cycle in Indian Crossbred CowsDevelopment of an Endocrine Profiles Based Mathematical Model for the Estrous Cycle in Indian Crossbred Cows
Abstract: Declined fertility of the high-yielding dairy cows reared under intensive condition of management is of great concern not only for India but for the whole world. The bovine estrous cycle, particularly the estrus, is tightly controlled by the complex interplay of various organs and hormones. Mathematical modeling of the bovine estrous cycle could help in understanding the dynamics of this complex biological system. The authors, therefore, developed a mechanistic mathematical …

Significance of TE Domain and Genetic Variations in FASN Gene in Dairy Animals
Abstract: The interest in the bovine fatty acid synthase (FASN) gene has increased during the last few years. FASN is a multifunctional enzyme that catalyzes de novo biosynthesis of long-chain saturated fatty acid, and alteration of this enzyme may affect economic traits including fatty acid composition. FASN is involved in fat metabolism and is an important candidate gene affecting fat composition of milk because of its central role in de-novo lipogenesis …

Genetic Variability and Significance of STAT Gene in Dairy Animals
Abstract: Abstract Importance in the bovine signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) gene has increased due to involvement of STAT1 in the development of the mammary gland and regulating the transcription of genes involved in milk protein synthesis and fat metabolism in lactating dairy animals. Signal transducer and activator of transcription gene are a family of cytoplasmic proteins that are stimulated in response to a large number of growth factors, …

Significance of Butyrophilin Gene in Relation to Milk Constituents in Dairy Animals
Abstract: Abstract Butyrophilin (BTN1A1) has been classified as member of transmembrane proteins of immunoglobulin family. BTN1A1 is a QTL candidate gene having role in milk production and composition (fat) in dairy animals. The gene product BTN1A1 has function during secretion of milk fat and its expression is tissue specific in lactating mammary tissue. Butyrophilin gene constitutes of a more than 40% by weight of total protein and synthesized as a peptide …
