Abstract

Today the Worldwide Interoperability of Microwave Access (WiMAX) technology is gaining popularity and gaining increasing acceptance as a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system. It is a IEEE 802.16 standard wireless communication technology that provides high speed data over a wide area. It is a point-to-point technology for using a multi-point wireless network. It has potential success in its line of sight (LOS) and non-linear (NLOS) operating conditions under the frequency of 11 GHz. There will be a worldwide increase in WiMAX network deployments. Path loss rate is critical for early use of wireless network and mobile planning. Many path loss (PL) models (e.g. Hata Model, Okumura Model, cost 231 Hata model) are available to predict distribution losses, but are prone to low bandwidth (up to 2 GHz). In this paper we compare and analyze five path loss models, first SUI model, this model can be used for simulation, design, and development and testing technology suitable for fixed wireless broadband application. Second Cost 231 Hata model, Mobile network operators build LTE networks with the help of radio broadcasting models (Okumura-Hata, Walfisch-Ikegami, etc.). One of the most common models used to determine radio frequency distribution in LTE networks is COST 231 Hata. Third Ericsson model, this model was developed by Ericsson as an extension of the Hata model. Fourth ECC-33 model, The ECC 33 model loss model was developed by the Electronic Communication Committee (ECC), which is derived from original measurements by Okumura and changed its thinking to closely represent the fixed wireless access (FWA). Fifth COST 231 Walfish-Ikegami model, it is a hybrid model designed specifically for short-range cell phones and PCS applications. Our main focus in this paper is to find a suitable model for different environment (urban, suburban and rural environment) in order to provide guidelines for setting up WiMAX cell phones at 3.5 GHz cellular frequencies.
