Abstract

AbstractIn the last few decades, the number of vehicles has risen drastically. With this increase, it is difficult to keep track of every vehicle traffic management. Number Plate Recognition is employed increasingly today for toll assortment, maintaining traffic activities and enforcement. The fundamental step in Number Plate Recognition is the localization of the number plate. Number Plate Recognition localization is enforced using MATLAB and verified for its practicality. In India, the recognition of vehicles by their Number plates in recent years has become quite tedious due to the increasing number of vehicles. This report presents an approach supporting straightforward, economical Sobel edge detection and morphological operations methodology. This approach segments all characters employed in the number plate.
