Abstract

Cold cream is a type of water-in-oil emulsion commonly used for cleansing and moisturizing the skin. It was originally developed by Galen, a Greek physician and pharmacist, during the Roman Empire in the first century. Today, cosmetics are widely used by both men and women to improve appearance and enhance beauty. Recently, there has been a highly positive achievement to general distinctiveness growth in consumer welfare in herbal cosmetics. These products are surging in popularity because people view them as safe and gentle alternatives, thanks to their natural plant and fruit ingredients. Consumers also love them because they work well, are budget-friendly, and easy to use all without sacrificing quality.Herbal cosmetics are available in various forms, including cold creams, which often contain natural ingredients such as neem extracts and fruit-based components like Bombax ceiba pulp. These formulations provide multiple skin benefits due to their rich composition. Since cold creams are emulsions, the gradual evaporation of water content from the skin produces a soothing and cooling effect upon application. To ensure quality and safety, these formulations are evaluated using several parameters such as pH, viscosity, acid value, saponification value, spreadability, irritation potential, microbiological stability, and heat stability. Additional tests like patch testing, smear testing, washability, after-feel analysis, dye tests, and in vitro diffusion studies are also conducted. The purpose of such evaluations is to gather comprehensive information about different herbal cold cream formulations. Research in this area has contributed valuable data that can help in the development of improved and innovative herbal cosmetic products. Market trends indicate that the herbal industry is steadily growing, with herbal cosmetics playing a major role in increasing global demand. All things considered, cosmetics significantly contribute to improving look while bolstering a person's self-esteem and confidence.
