Abstract

Radioactive waste disposal is a complex and ethically challenging issue that demands careful consideration of its potential impacts on human health, the environment, and future generations. This abstract explores the key ethical concerns associated with radioactive waste disposal. It highlights the principles of intergenerational equity, environmental protection, informed consent, safety, and fairness in distributing benefits and burdens. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of long-term stewardship, alternative waste management methods, international cooperation, and the development of ethical guidelines for industry and government. Environmental injustice and the disproportionate environmental danger these people endure are concerns. Radioactive waste disposal sites in impoverished and minority communities in India have sparked protests. Radioactive waste disposal is expensive. Impact on ecosystems: Radioactive waste disposal can harm local and global ecosystems. This raises ethical questions concerning the human duty to safeguard nature. Hindus revere the Ganges River, and radioactive waste disposal raises worries in India. In addition to ethical difficulties, radioactive waste disposal in India faces practical challenges. For instance, India lacks a deep geological repository for radioactive waste disposal, the safest alternative. Promoting public awareness and education is also crucial for informed decision-making in this critical area. Balancing the benefits of nuclear technology with ethical responsibilities is essential for ensuring a sustainable and just approach to radioactive waste disposal. No single solution exists for radioactive waste disposal ethics. Each nation must tailor its strategy to its conditions. A public discussion about these concerns is necessary to create fair and responsible policy. This article reviews radioactive hazard mitigation.
