Abstract

Single-phase induction motors are widely used in home appliances and industrial control because of their low cost and rugged construction. Many industrial processes require variable speed drives for various applications. This project investigates the speed control performance of single-phase induction motor using microcontroller AVR ATmega8a. PWM technique has been employed in this inverter to supply the motor with AC voltage. The 4n25 opto-coupler serves the purpose of isolation between the microcontroller circuit and the inverter and supplies the required gate voltage for the conduction of the IGBT (15N120) in the bridge inverter. The microcontroller senses the speed’s feedback signal and consequently provides the pulse width variation signal that sets the voltage and frequency ratio constant, which in turn provides the constant torque for the desired speed. The complete design is modelled and tested using SCILAB simulation and hardware implementation to control the speed single phase induction motor by pulse width modulation method. To control the speed of these motor, a motor drive and control system with different methods can be used. An induction motor’s speed enable affected by the supply frequency, change the number of motor stators, adjust the power input.Cite this Article Patil Aishwarya S, Patil Pooja B, Patil Sujata S.
