Composite Specimens Thermomechanical Analysis Using Infrared Thermography
Abstract: The use of composites for engineering components has increased significantly. The introduction of composite components can reduce weight and has the potential to reduce the through life cost of the component. Their overall performance is influenced by the constituent materials, their distribution and the interaction between them. To exploit the potential of composite material, it is important to understand the thermomechanical behavior. Therefore, this work is about thermoelastic response from …

Experimental Investigation of Shaft Whirl Carrying 3 Rotors
Abstract: This paper deals with the study of whirling of shaft with three rotors. Natural frequency of the system is found by impact hammer test followed by identifying the speed at which whirling occurs in the system. Experimental results were verified by using Dunkerley's method for natural frequency. Rayleigh-Ritz equation is used to find out the critical speed of the shaft and hence to validate with experimental result. Keywords: Whirling, Natural frequency, …

A Review on Deviation Function Method
Abstract: This review paper covers the method to develop a lobe rotor pair profile used in many mechanical mechanisms. Lobe rotor pairs are conjugate generated pairs. It means that for each lobe there exists a corresponding another lobe such that for each point on first lobe there is a point on another lobe having same velocity. Deviation function method is widely used to develop a lobe profile. Deviation function method is …

Design and Fabrication of Automated Rice Huller
Abstract: This paper describes the detailed procedure for design and fabrication of rice huller machine. A rice huller or rice husker is an agricultural machine used to automate the process of removing the chaff (the outer husks) of grains of rice. Throughout history, there have been numerous techniques to hull rice. Traditionally, it would be pounded using some form of mortar and pestle. An early simple machine to do this is …

Effect of Polarity on Metal Transfer in Submerged Arc Welding
Abstract: Essential requirement of a welding process is to obtain a welded joint with desired weld bead parameters and mechanical properties. The major challenge in a welding process is to achieve control over the weld metal properties which are significantly affected by polarity as it affects the extent of heat generated at electrode wire and work in the welding process. This paper evaluates the effect of polarity on metal transfer through …

Review on Double Girder Bottom Pulley Hook Block for EOT Crane
Abstract: The design of crane is under the standard IS 3177 for steel plants and IS 4137 for power plants crane. Classification of crane is based on operating cycle or working cycle of crane as per IS 13834. In which the maximum and heavy duty working cycle of crane is considered as steel plant crane. Electric overhead cranes (EOT) are widely used as material handling equipment in industries. Among all its …
