A Novel Maximum Solar Power Point Tracking Application
Abstract: In this paper a low voltage, low cost and high efficiency based solar maximum power point tracking system for green house applications is presented. The main controlling element is the micro controller programme in c language in order to extract maximum solar power point. In addition we use boost convertor for MPPT. Further this maximum power is utilized to drive pumps and fans of green house. Keywords: non-Conventional energy, MPPT, …

HCC Based Hybrid Shunt Active Filter to Reduce the Harmonics Due to Switching Surges
Abstract: This paper deals with the hysteresis current control based hybrid shunt active filter to reduce the harmonics produced by frequent switching of industrial loads in distribution system. The main harmonic sources of distribution lines are the non linear loads and frequent switching of industrial loads. The harmonics due to non linear loads can be controlled by passive filters. The switching surges are dynamic and its magnitude dies out quickly. Hence …

The Transient Performance of Power Line Towers
Abstract: This paper presents a refined approach to the transient analysis of power line towers. Each section of the tower’s steel structure is accurately modeled as a non-uniform transmission line. Among other features, an efficient representation of the towers’ cross-arms as open-ended non-uniform lines and their subsequent approximation by lumped capacitors will be explored. Furthermore, the error introduced by neglecting the presence of the cross-arms, as well as the effect of …

Three-phase Squirrel Cage Induction Generators (SCIG) Connected to Grid: An Overview
Abstract: The induction generators associated with non-conventional energy systems like wind, mini/micro hydro are gaining popularity day by day as they are generating clean energy. The induction generators may be operated in two modes: isolated and grid connected. Further the grid connection can be done by using squirrel cage induction generators or doubly fed induction generators. In this paper detailed study of grid connected Squirrel cage induction generator is done, discussing …

Assessment of Restructured Indian Power Sector: Availability, Demand and Shortage
Abstract: The Indian power sector has undergone significant changes since 1990 by opening gateway for the independent power producers. Power planning will play an important role in the successful power reform. It is essential for India economy growth. Only a financially and commercially sound power sector can attract new investments. India ranks fifth in the world in total energy consumption and needs to accelerate the development of the sector to meet …
