Analysis of the Current Chopping and Breaker Stresses in Electric Power Networks
Abstract: This paper addresses the phenomenon of current chopping in electric power networks and the resulting circuit breaker transient recovery voltage. Its dependence on the pre-interruption loading conditions and the data of the power network is demonstrated. A Laplace-domain model with normalized network circuit parameters is adopted and a closed-form expression for the recovery voltage is derived. A numerical Laplace inversion technique using Mathematica is implemented in order to get its …

A Review on STATCOM Controller for Power Quality Enhancement in Distributed System
Abstract: New technologies, using power Electronics-based concepts, have been Developed to provide protection for Commercial and industrial customers from Power quality problems on the electrical Distribution system known as Custom Power Products. Custom power devices are classified into three categories by their structures such as dynamic voltage regulator (DVR), distribution static compensator (STATCOM) and unified power quality compensator (UPQC).The Distribution Static Compensator (D-STATCOM), one of the custom power product, is a …

Magenn Air Rotor System: Power Production
Abstract: The Magenn Air Rotor System (MARS) is the next generation of wind turbines with cost and performance advantages over existing systems. Helium sustains the Magenn Air Rotor System, which ascends to an altitude as selected by the operator for the best winds. MARS is a lighter than-air tethered wind turbine that rotates which is connected to a generator, in response to wind, generating electrical energy. This electrical energy is transmitted …

Rail and Coil gun Based Levitating hybrid Train
Abstract: Hybrid train is a train which is a hybrid of the concept ideas of coil gun, rail gun, halback array, magnetic levitation etc. Theoretically this train could achieve the fastest Speed an object could reach respect to its mass. This train could surpass sound barrier and could even be made to go to speed exceeding mach 3. But due to travel safety a certain speed limit can be implemented in …
