California Bearing Ratio and Young’s Modulus Behavior of Clinker Stabilized Fly Ash-Mine Overburden Mixes
Abstract: Fly ash is a major byproduct of coal combustion. Fly ash often causes disposal problems and environmental pollution. This paper presents detailed laboratory investigation carried out on clinker stabilized fly ash-mine overburden mixes to find out its suitability for sub-base of mine haul road pavements. Proctor compaction test, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) test, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) Test, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) were conducted …

Gravel Scrap Tires Admixed Drainage Material in Landfill Leachate Collection System
Abstract: Amidst water for sustenance, underground water quality becomes further deterministic. The stance of its continual contamination due to infiltration, uncontrolled industrialization, unplanned inhabitation, etc., is making “quantity” meaningless unless maintenance of quality is addressed. One of the potent measures to combat this infiltration is creation of a semi-impervious media below the subsoil, which may regulate the outcome judiciously, and in a proffered way. The logistics, however, do not allow planned …

Modeling Evapotranspiration using Artificial Neural Networks
Abstract: The prior knowledge of evapotranspiration (ET0) is crucial for estimating crop-water demand, preparation of water distribution schedules and water diversion. The present study investigates the utility of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and linear regression models (LRs) for forecasting ET0 based on hydro-meteorological data. Based on different inputs, eight ANN and LR models are developed. The results are compared with those of FAO-56 Penman-Monteith expression. The published daily climatic data from …
