Enhancing Bituminous Mixes with Recycled Polyethylene: Performance Analysis Using Marshall Stability Test
Abstract: This study investigates the impact of incorporating recycled low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in bituminous mixes for potential use in flexible pavement construction. Utilizing a Marshall Stability Test, various proportions of LDPE and HDPE were analyzed to determine optimal stability and flow characteristics. The test maintained a fixed Zycotherm content at 1.5% and varied LDPE content from 2% to 5% by weight, while HDPE content was also tested …

Review of Amphibious Structures as A Flood Resilience Strategy Around the World
Abstract: Over time, people have settled in communities that are fluvial flood zones and located at low elevations due to limited access to land, strong cultural ties that continue for generations, and economic factors that make relocation nearly impossible. "Our homes are stitched into the landscape," some say, "we have nowhere else to go." However, when the water continues to invade year after year, these populations face a perpetual threat to …

Experimental Analysis of Axially Compressed Precast Concrete Pressure Pipes Filled with Concrete
Abstract: Humanity has always been at the mercy of natural disasters, which frequently result in widespread devastation and displacement. However, scientific advancements, technological innovations, and extensive research have significantly mitigated the loss of life, property, and essential resources. One of the critical challenges in the aftermath of disasters is providing adequate and timely shelter, food, and medicine to the affected populations, often under constrained resources and logistical difficulties. In response to …

Replacement of Fine Aggregate in Concrete Using Bakelite Powder: A Review
Abstract: This review explores the feasibility of incorporating Bakelite, a thermosetting synthetic polymer known for its durability, heat resistance, and insulating properties, as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in concrete. The increasing focus on sustainable construction practices has driven interest in utilizing industrial waste materials like Bakelite to reduce environmental pollution while enhancing concrete performance. Bakelite, often discarded as industrial waste, presents an opportunity to improve the mechanical and durability …
