Sound Source Localization Application on Nios II Embedded System
Abstract: This paper presents the software implementation of binaural sound source localization employing interaural time difference (ITD) method on NIOS system built on FPGA Altera DE2-70. Hardware components on NIOS system were configured and generated using SOPC builder. FFT based cross correlation algorithm was developed for ITD computation. The developed system was tested in a semi-anechoic room and used white noise as sound source. Best sound arrival estimation obtained for sound …

Hardware Implementation of a Multistage Low Pass Sigma Delta Modulator
Abstract: The overall objective of this paper is to describe the design, simulation and observation of the hardware implementation of a multi stage low-pass sigma delta modulator on FPGA architecture using modelsim. The objective of this paper is shown first by describing a low-pass multistage for D/A sigma delta modulator. The next step involves a detailed evaluation of various accumulator based MASH structures which is then modeled in MATLAB and SIMULINK …

A Pseudo Randomly Triggered Integer Cycle Control (PRT-ICC) for AC Loads to Reduce THD, EMI and RFI
Abstract: Several proportional voltage control techniques exist for AC loads. The most popular of these are phase control (PC), cycle control (CC) (including integral cycle control (ICC) and fractional cycle control (FCC)) and pulse-width modulation (PWM)). Phase control utilizes triggering for loads away from zero voltage or zero current and generates odd harmonics with amplitudes higher than ICC and PWM. Integral cycle control, causes more harmonics (both even and odd) overall …
