A Memory Efficient No List SPECK (NSK) Wavelet Image Coder for Memory-constrained Applications
Abstract: In this paper, a fast and memory-efficient listless version of set-partitioned embedded block (SPECK) image coder is proposed. Due to the use of linked lists, the original SPECK algorithm requires large run-time memory, making it unsuitable for memory-constrained applications. The proposed coder replaces linked list with small fixed size static memory, to keep track of blocks in set partitioning only and use only two markers to facilitate coding. Replacement of …

A Survey on Weather Forecasting and the Proposed Approach
Abstract: Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Accurate weather forecasting has been one of the most challenging problems around the world. The technical milestones that have been achieved by the researchers in this field have been reviewed and presented in this survey paper. Since the past decades, various models have been developed for weather forecasting using artificial neural network, data mining and by using soft computing, which are discussed in this paper. This paper …

Geospatial Analysis of Wetlands in Jharkhand Using Multi-temporal Satellite Data
Abstract: The present study was carried out to study the wetlands of Jharkhand using pre-monsoon and post-monsoon satellite data. Different indices were used to quantify the seasonal extent of wetlands, aquatic vegetation and turbidity levels of wetlands. Wetlands occupying an area smaller than 2.25 ha were identified separately as small wetlands. The total number of wetlands identified in Jharkhand was 2436 covering an area of 1568.27 sq. km. Small wetlands were …

Multi-Criteria Decision Making and Geoinformatics: Evaluating Tools for Alternative Road Network in Hilly Terrain
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Mobility is the backbone of activity system of the human race. Road transportation network has been an essential infrastructure facility, which needs to be developed and regularly maintained to detain increasing population and economy. A road network should offer connectivity throughout the year without any natural and anthropogenic hindrance. In the Ladakh province of Jammu and Kashmir, where road is the largest …

Spatiotemporal Analysis of Noida, Greater Noida and Surrounding Areas (India) Using Remote Sensing and GIS Approaches
Abstract: Spatiotemporal analysis refers to an analysis having both spatial extension and temporal duration. Remote sensing has provided a great tool to quantify changes using satellite data in our area of interest. Population of Indian cities is growing rapidly. That is why human need for shelter is also growing day by day, resulting in fast urbanization. This study uses remote sensing and GIS approaches to delineate the urban growth resulting in …
