Design Parameters of Three-phase Self-excited Induction Generator for Desired Performance under Unbalanced Operations
Abstract: Self-excited induction generators are widely used for power generation using wind energy in remote and windy locations. However, the load in such generating units may become unbalance and sometimes the excitation capacitance may be unbalance due to aging effect or manufacturing tolerance. All this reflect a strong need for the analysis of such machines under unbalanced operations. In this paper, proposed model as presented has been framed in order to …

Direct Power Control of Brushless DC Motor Drive
Abstract: Recently, due to significant increase in demands of electric motors, design and manufacturing of high efficiency motors and related variable speed drives have been regarded by many suppliers. Among several kinds of motors, the brushless DC (BLDC) motor has many advantages including high torque capability. In this paper, for the first time, the possibilities of direct power control (DPC) of BLDC motors fed by a voltage source inverter have been …

Implementation of Real Time Pricing in Deregulated Power Sector
Abstract: This paper proposes an approach for implementation of Real Time Pricing in deregulated power sector. In this paper, combined model consisting of the pool, bilateral and multilateral transaction of deregulated power sector has been considered. In deregulated power sector, power schedule is decided 24 h ahead of real market but some of the market participants are diverted from their commitments regarding either supply of scheduled generation or withdrawal of scheduled …

The Transient Response and Frequency Characteristics of Power Transformers having Non-uniform Winding Insulation
Abstract: This paper presents a Laplace-domain distributed-parameter technique for analyzing the transient and frequency response of power transformers having non-uniform winding insulation. Stronger winding insulation near the windings source side terminals is usually applied in order to mitigate the concentration of the transient voltage stresses close to these locations. This will result in a location-dependent inter-turn capacitance distribution. The suggested procedure for analyzing such windings is based on the cascade connection …

Voice based Control of Appliances using LabVIEW
Abstract: A voice based control of appliances for home and office automation become increasingly important and interesting. Automation with the voice provides better time management. These also improve the quality of our lives by automating some of the electrical home appliances such as light source, A/V equipment, computer, security device, etc. In this paper a voice based control of devices using LabVIEW is implemented. User can input the control command through …
