Adaptive-Hysteresis Current Controller Based Shunt Active Power Line Conditioners for Power Quality Improvements
Abstract: This paper presents three-phase shunt active power line conditioners (APLC) for harmonics and reactive powercompensation due to non-linear loads in the distribution network. The compensation process proposed is asinusoidal extraction control method, which consists of positive-sequence voltage detector for regulating thesupply voltage and instantaneous reactive power (p-q) theory for fundamental extraction from the distorted linecurrent. The shunt active filter voltage source inverter’s switching pulses are generated through an adaptivehysteresiscurrent controller …

Dynamic Integration and Control of Fixed-Sp eed Wind Generation System with Multimachine System
Abstract: Since the average life of a wind generator is about 20 years, many of the wind systems will be employingconventional fixed-speed cage generators in spite of the superiority of the variable-speed devices. As theextent of wind integration continues to grow, the wind parks may need to be integrated with AC power grids. The integration to grids, particularly to weak ones, may give rise to transient conditions detrimental to boththe asynchronous as …

Genetic Algorithm Based Optimal Volt/Var Control of Distribution Systems with Distributed Generation
Abstract: In this paper, new voltage regulation algorithms have been proposed for Distribution System (DS) equippedwith Distributed Generation (DG). Due to the ever increasing power demand, the power system sector isfacing too many challenges to fulfill that demand and also to supply power with proper acceptable quality.Distributed generation is one of the most efficient solutions to meet the increasing demand. When integratedwith the grid, it has its own technical as well …

Performance of Smes Unit on Artificial Neural Network Based Multi-Area Agc Scheme
Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to develop Fuzzy controller to analyse the performance ofinstantaneous real active and reactive power (p–q) control strategy for extracting reference currents ofshunt active filters under balanced, un-balanced and balanced non-sinusoidal conditions. When the supplyvoltages are balanced and sinusoidal, the all control strategies are converge to the same compensationcharacteristics; However, the supply voltages are distorted and/or un-balanced sinusoidal, these controlstrategies result in different degrees …

Torque Ripple Minimization of High-Power Fed Induction Motor Drive Using Low Switching Frequency
Abstract: Multi-level inverter has emerged as an important topology in the area of high-power-medium voltage energycontrol applications due to its several advantages such as its good harmonic rejection capability, betteroutput voltage with reduced ripple, reduction of voltage ratings of the power semiconductor switchingdevices and also the reduced electro-magnetic interference problems, etc. This paper presents the torqueripple minimization and the performance under different operating conditions (dynamic and steady state) ofindirect vector-controlled high-power …
