Impact of Sea Level Rise due to Climate Change and Anticipated Consequence of Slamming Forces on Deck Elevation of Port Structures-An Assessment
Abstract: The research methodologies for on climate change, particularly the deterministic factors have undergone gradual changes during last few decades in respective IPCC’s Assessment Reports. The original concept of emission scenarios (2000) was reconsidered as socio-economic scenarios till AR4, later appraised as Representative Concentration Pathways till AR5 based on Radiative Forcing, the capacity of a gas affecting the change in energy (trajectories not emissions) in the atmosphere. Lately in AR6 the …

Assessing the Impact of Strong Wind Loads on High-Rise Buildings in Proximity to the Seashore
Abstract: The focus of this research is on the impact of intensive wind load on high-rise RCC structures situated in close proximity to the coastal line. The study specifically examines a 15-story RCC building located along the Arabian Sea coast in India. Wind load analysis was conducted using the IS875-2015 part III standards, with a consideration of a basic wind speed of 55 m/s. The primary objective of this research is …

Performance Optimization of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines with Wave Oscillation
Abstract: In this paper, the influence of wind turbine tilt due to wave effects on the power generation has been studied and analyzed to optimize the performance of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT). A simulation process has been developed to determine the optimum tilt angle at which the wind turbine delivers the maximum power. The simulation has been applied to a marine wind turbine with articulated hinge, which allows to correct …

Calculation of Element Stiffness Matrix for Finite Element Analysis of Pile Dynamic Stability
Abstract: For the purpose of analyzing the dynamic stability of pile structures under periodic loads, we have employed the Finite Element Method in this study. The soil modulus was assumed to vary linearly. We have formulated the Mathieu-Hill eigenvalue equation to analyze the stability and instability regions for different static and dynamic load factors. Our research provides valuable insights into the behavior of pile structures when subjected to dynamic loading. The …

Development of a Distributed Simulation Model for Container Terminal Operational Management
Abstract: In the shipping port sector, container traffic and its distribution are dynamic, complicated, and highly non-linear; and hence are complex to manage. To efficiently function, and to provide strategic support for the increasing traffic, the ports must either expand infrastructural facilities or improve efficiency of existing operations. In aiming to explore the options through which ports can improve efficiency, this note presents a container terminal simulation model and discusses components …
