Optimization of dry sliding wear behaviour of AA6061 (as cast) and AA6061 (HT) aluminium alloy using design of experiment approach
Abstract: The dry sliding wear behaviour of AA6061 (as cast) and AA6061 (HT) aluminium alloy has been optimized using Taguchi Orthogonal array design. Experiments were conducted to study the influence of various parameters like, load(N), sliding speed(m/sec) and sliding distance on the dry sliding wear behaviour of both AA6061(as cast) and AA6061(HT) aluminium alloy using L9 orthogonal array design. The experiments were carried out to determine the significant controlling parameter affecting …

Effect of Carbon ,Chromium, Vanadium, Molybdenum, Manganese and Nickel on hardness and wear Resistance of Fe-Cr-C Hardfacing Alloys.
Abstract: The effects of combination of carbon (C), chromium (Cr), vanadium (V), molybdenum (Mo), manganese (Mn) and nickel (Ni) in Fe-Cr-C hardfacing alloy has been investigated on microstructure and microhardness with submerged arc welding (SAW) process. The Optical Microscope (OM) and Vicker micro-hardness tester were used. Powder form of ferro-chrome (Fe-Cr), ferro-vanadium (Fe-V), ferro-molybdenum (Fe-Mo), carbon (C), nickel (Ni) and ferro-manganese (Fe-Mn) were used as alloying elements to form coating layer …

Mechanical Behaviour of AISI 204 Cu Metastable Low Nickel Austenitic Stainless Steel Sheets at Various Constantly Maintained Elevated Temperatures
Abstract: Mechanical behaviour of AISI 204 austenitic stainless steel is analyzed at 298-873K and also a comparison with that of AISI 304 is done. Room temperature tensile properties are obtained based on an average of properties evaluated on specimens prepared with specimen length axes at 0°, 45° and 90° to sheet rolling direction. Room temperature flow curves are obtained as a function of nickel content and sheet thickness. High temperature tensile …

Investigation on pitting corrosion rate of Micro Plasma Arc Welded Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) alloy sheets in KBr solution using TOPSIS
Abstract: Titanium is having good anti-corrosion properties in both basic and acidic medium. However, when it is subjected to severer heating processing like welding, there is a possibility of corrosion formation at the weld joint. In the present work Pulsed current MPAW is used for joining 0.5 mm thick Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) alloy sheets. Peak Current, Base Current, Pulse Rate and Pulse Width are considered as input parameters and fusion zone corrosion …

Some Creep-Rupture Data Analytics as Applied to AISI 310S Superalloy Austenitic Stainless Steel Sheets at Elevated Temperatures and High Applied Stresses
Abstract: Creep-rupture of AISI 301S stainless steel is analyzed at 973-1073K and 40-150MPa. Various creep curves and creep rate curves are compared to understand the effect of temperature and applied load. Creep deformation and creep fracture mechanisms are manipulated from concerned mechanism maps. Creep deformation follows high temperature climb. Creep activation energy so obtained is 345KJ/mol. It is larger than activation energy for self-diffusion in pure FCC iron (that is 270-311kJ/mol). …

A Literature Review on Al-Si-TiB2 In-situ Metal Matrix Composites
Abstract: This review focuses on various aluminium alloys as matrix materials used for synthesis of in-situ metal matrix composites(MMCs) with different reinforcements like graphite, Al2O3, SiC, TiB2 and so on for their excellent characteristic properties. Taking their limitations into account, tailoring the physical, mechanical as well as wear properties of these composites with the use of appropriate type and amount of reinforcement along with optimum process parameters has also been investigated …
