Concentrated Solar Energy in Iron Production: Towards Zero-Carbon Metallurgy
Abstract: Given the importance of environmental protection in modern societies, one of the objectives of industrial strategies in general and the metallurgical industries in particular is to find new, ecologically acceptable energy sources. One of these energy sources is solar energy, which, when properly concentrated, has a lot of promise for high temperature applications like those needed in metallurgical operations. In this work, we suggest using focused sun energy to make …

Effect of Water Absorption on the Mechanical Properties of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) Reinforced Polymer Composite
Abstract: Natural fibres are progressively picking up attention as their applications are diversified into multiple industries which includes the automotive industry where lightweight materials are of utmost importance. The demand for natural fibre reinforced polymer matrix composites was nevermore as predominant as it is today. Oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) fibres are natural fibres and contribute to an eco-friendlier substitute when compared to synthetic fibres. These fibres are obtainable in …

Plant-Derived Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites: The Impact of Compatibilizer on the Fundamental Characteristics and Degradation Properties
Abstract: By using compression molding, unidirectional polypropylene (PP) composites reinforced with banana fiber were created both with and without the use of stearic acid (SA) as a coupling agent. Four filler loading levels (10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% by weight) were employed during the composite manufacturing process, using raw banana fiber. The resulting composites underwent mechanical testing (tensile, bending, and impact characteristics). The ideal combination of mechanical properties was found in …

Synthesis and Applications of Copper- Doped Pyridine Precipitate
Abstract: A metal organic nonlinear optical single crystal, copper doped pyridine material, was created at room temperature using the slow evaporation solution growth technique (SEST). The developed material's crystalline nature was revealed by a powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Single crystal XRD study shows that the material synthesized possesses monoclinic system of cell parameters, a = 11.44 Å, b = 7.92 Å, C = 11.74 Å and alpha and gamma is …

A Review: Advancements and Applications of Investment Casting Technology in Aerospace Industries
Abstract: A conventional method for producing intricate and superior metal components is investment casting. It utilizes a wax pattern, a refractory shell, and molten metal to create a near-net-shape product. This method has been around for more than 5,000 years and is still relevant in various industries today, especially in aerospace. Investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, is essential to the aerospace industry's ability to produce complex, high-performance parts. The …
