STUDY ON THE FAILURES OF WELD JOINTS OF ROOF HOOPS & BIAS MEMBERS IN THE PROJECT JEWEL ROOF CONSTRUCTION AND APPLICATION OF FLUX-CORED ARC WELDING TO AVOID FAILURES
Abstract: During the construction of the roof structure of the commercial interconnection between the three airport terminals of the Changi Airport in Singapore, several failures have been noticed during the welding of roof hoops and bias members. In this context, experimental studies have been performed on transient heat transfer in welding distortion control by using flux-cored arc welding process (Self Shielded-SS) by using three(3)-dimensional welding in High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) …

Enhancement of Cable Profile and Deck Arrangement in Cable Stayed Bridge A Review
Abstract: Cable-stayed bridges are usually self-anchored structures and therefore offer a good solution at locations where the soil conditions are not good and as a consequence the cost of the foundations for an earth-anchored structure like a typical suspension bridge would become excessive. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to find a new type of material in lieu of steel. Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has many excellent properties, such as …

Performance of Polymer Modified Polypropylene Fiber Reinforced Concrete
Abstract: AbstractThe fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) is a composite material essentially consisting of conventional concrete reinforced by random dispersal of short, discontinuous and discrete fibers of specific geometry. The conventional plain concrete possesses high compressive strength, low tensile strength, poor impact strength, ductility, and little resistance to cracking and poor resistance to chemical attack. The presences of micro-cracks at the mortar aggregate interface are responsible for the inherent weakness of plain …

Performance of Polyster Fibre Reinforced Concrete
Abstract: The present work deals with the results of experimental investigations on Recron 3s Polyester fibre reinforced concrete. Effect of these fibres on various strengths of concrete are studied. Firstly 0.1% fiber content is used and after that varied from 0.2 to 1.8% at an interval of 0.2% by weight of cement. Various strengths considered for investigation are compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile, bond strength and shear strength. Cube of …

Adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the Philippines’ AEC Industry: Prospects, Issues, and Challenges
Abstract: Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a modern approach and process used in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AE&C) industry that enhances planning, design, and construction of facilities. In fact, BIM is considered one of the most promising advancements in the AE&C industry. Its usage in other countries has become prevalent and the benefits are remarkable in terms of reduction of time, cost, and material wastage. The Philippines, on the other …
