Performance of High Strength Basalt Fiber Reinforced Metakaolin Concrete
Abstract: The present work deals with the results of experimental investigations on high strength M60 basalt fiberreinforced metakaolin concrete. Effect of these fibers on various strengths of concrete are studied. Fiber contentvaried from 0.5 to 1.5% at an interval of 0.5 by weight of cement. Various strengths considered for investigationare compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile, and bond strength. Cube of size 100 mm forcompressive strength, beams of size 500 mm …

Planning for Optimum Maintenance Cost in Water Treatment Plants in Baghdad
Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to develop model to reach breakeven point between periodicplanned maintenance and emergency maintenance. Hence, intensifying periodic maintenance wouldlead to cost increased, accordingly the emergency maintenance should decreased and visa verse. Theeffect of this intensifying periodic maintenance on emergency maintenance is to be determined usingsimulation model based on data collected for 8 working water treatment plants. Many attempts havebeen seen to reach this point …

Removal of Adhered Mortar from Recycled Aggregates
Abstract: While recycled aggregates can replace natural aggregate in making concrete without compromising strength, itis imperative to appraise the quality of the former. Quality of recycled aggregates depends upon thecomposition and strength of concrete from which it is derived. Thus it is necessary to identify and evaluatesignificant parameters characterizing a typical recycled aggregate. Adhered mortar present on recycledaggregates has been observed to adversely affect the performance of aggregates in concrete, thus …

Ultimate Moment Capacity of Polypropylene Fibers Reinforced Concrete Beams
Abstract: The flexural behavior of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete, plain concrete beams with and withoutreinforcement was investigated. The reinforcement, volume ratio of polypropylene fiber and surface type ofpolypropylene fiber kept constant for all the beams. All beams had the same dimensions and tested under twopoint loads. The results showed that polypropylene fibers were effective in reducing the crack width and crackpropagation. The results also showed that while polypropylene fibers had only …
