Host Suitability of Trichogrammatoidea Bactrae Nagaraja on Different Host Eggs
Abstract: Trichogrammatoidea bactrae Nagaraja (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatoidea) is a highly effective egg parasitoid for controlling lepidopteran pests. This study evaluates its host suitability and biological characteristics across various lepidopteran eggs, specifically Corcyra cephalonica Stainton (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), Spodoptera litura Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Helicoverpa armigera Hubner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), and Pectinophora gossypiella Saunders (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae). The results indicate that T. bactrae shows the highest parasitization rates on C. cephalonica, …

Havoc of Papaya Mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus) and Its Management Strategies
Abstract: The papaya mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus) is a serious problem that affects mulberries, citrus, and papaya among other agricultural and horticultural crops. Originating in Central America, it has spread around the world and caused extensive harm because of its capacity to consume plant sap, which results in reduced crop yields, fruit drop, and chlorosis. In addition, the insect releases honeydew, which encourages the development of sooty mold, further impeding photosynthesis and …

Harnessing Biomass for Sustainable Insect Farming and Biotechnology: Ecological Roles, Industrial Applications, and Future Opportunities
Abstract: Biomass, derived from biological materials, such as plant residues, animal waste, and agricultural by-products, plays a pivotal role in ecological systems, including those involving insects. Insects interact with biomass at multiple levels, serving as decomposers, pollinators, and converters of organic matter into valuable resources. The integration of biomass into insect ecology and farming has garnered significant attention for its potential in sustainable agriculture, waste management, and biotechnology. This review highlights …

Common Diseases of Silkworm and Their Management – A Comprehensive Overview
Abstract: Silkworms (Bombyxmori L.), pivotal to the sericulture industry, are susceptible to various diseases that significantly impact cocoon production and quality. Common silkworm diseases include viral, bacterial, fungal, and protozoan infections. Prominent viral diseases, such as nuclear polyhedrosis (NPV) and cytoplasmic polyhedrosis (CPV) often cause mass mortality in larvae. Bacterial diseases, like flacherie, are typically induced by poor hygiene and environmental stress. Fungal infections, including muscardine caused by Beauveria bassiana, proliferate …

Pros and Cons of Adopting Artificial Diet for Silkworms
Abstract: Silkworms (Bombyx mori L.) were renowned for their ability to produce silk fibers and have played an essential role in the textile industry for thousands of years. Traditionally, these insects have been raised on mulberry leaves which provide them with the necessary nutrients to grow and spin silk. However, in recent years, advancements in agricultural and industrial practices have led to the development of artificial diets for silkworms. These synthetic …
